Working with Batch Documents

Learn how to use Batch Documents to organize evidence by production batch and support accurate LCA calculations.

Batch Documents let you collect data per batch of carbon removal output — such as a batch of biochar, a batch of carbonated material, or a defined period of measured material sinking for mCDR projects. They're typically used for evidence that feeds the carbon stored formula in LCA calculations, where breaking results down by batch is critical.

How To

  1. Open the Document you want to configure.

  2. Under Requests, select Batch Requests to set the cadence.

  3. Click + Add Batch to create each batch you need to track.

  4. For each batch, upload the relevant files using Add Files.

  5. Set an assignee and due date for the batch request.

    • Note: Batch Documents can only include one evidence request.

  6. Group batches together from the three dot menu on the right when they share data or metrics to keep related evidence connected and reduce duplication.

When to Use Batch Documents

Use Batch Documents when project data needs to be organized by output batch rather than by time period or a one-time submission. Common scenarios include:

  • Environmental analysis per batch of biochar produced

  • Weight or mass measurements per batch of carbonated material

  • Periods of measured material sinking for mCDR projects

  • Any data input feeding batch-level LCA calculations (e.g., carbon stored formula)

⚠️ Do not use Batch Documents for input materials going into a carbon product — those are better tracked through Recurring or One-Time Requests.

Important Notes

  • Batch Documents are limited to one evidence request per document.

  • Batches can be grouped if they share metrics or data inputs.

  • Batch-level data flows into LCA calculations, so naming and organization should reflect how your team will reference each batch later.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Group batches with shared characteristics to avoid duplicating uploads.

  • Coordinate assignees so the right person is uploading evidence as each batch closes.
